Prof. Herman Kingma new University Council chairman as of 1 March

In a closed meeting held on 24 february, the University Council of Maastricht University unanimously approved the appointment of Professor Herman Kingma, PhD, as the new chairman of the University Council.

Kingma is 59 years old and a professor of Clinical Vestibulology in FHML’s Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery (KNO) department. To a wider audience, he is especially known for his research on balance disturbances. Before and during the merger with the Faculty of Health Sciences, Kingma chaired the Faculty Council of the medical faculty, and as such, played an important administrative role in the discussion and decision-making process of the merger of the two faculties and the establishment of the university’s medical centre MUMC+. As of 1 March, Kingma will take the position of UR chairman for a period of two years.

Prof. dr. Herman Kingma nieuwe voorzitter Universiteitsraad per 1 maart

De Universiteitsraad van de Universiteit Maastricht heeft 24 februari in een besloten vergadering unaniem ingestemd met de benoeming van prof. dr. Herman Kingma als nieuwe voorzitter van de Universiteitsraad.

Prof. dr. Herman Kingma is 59 jaar en hoogleraar Klinische Vestibulologie in de vakgroep Keel- Neus- en Oorheelkunde (KNO) van de FHML, en voor een breder publiek vooral bekend om zijn onderzoek naar evenwichtsstoornissen. Voor en tijdens de fusie met de Faculteit der Gezondheidswetenschappen heeft professor Kingma de faculteitsraad van de medische faculteit voorgezeten, en in die functie een belangrijke bestuurlijke rol gespeeld in bij de discussie en besluitvorming rond de fusie van de twee faculteiten, als wel de totstandkoming van MUMC+, het medische universitaire centrum. Prof. Kingma zal het voorzitterschap van de UR per 1 maart innemen, voor een periode van twee jaar.
