Having mail held?
Let me preface by saying I assume that something like this exists here, but TNT didn't understand what I was looking for and directed me to an address forwarding service. So I've come here instead. In the US, the postal service will hold your mail for a period of time you set while you're on vacation. Can I do that here? If I can, what would it be called in Dutch?

Hi Amanda,
I don't believe we have this service here. You have to rely on friends or neighbours to keep your doormat clean.
Although, we have these red No/No stickers you can stick to your mailbox to prevent your doormat from being spammed with advertisements and other non addressed stuff. Also you can ask your newspaper to stop the delivery for some time and even get a refund for the days you are out of town.

Hi Ron. I began to suspect that when you tweeting this question; but I was holding out a bit of hope. I have to admit I'm surprised, but so it goes. I'll have to ask my neighbor to cover for me.
If I can't get anyone to cover for it, do you think I could improvise a Nee/Nee sticker for while we're gone? Its a bit late to get one from the Gemeente. We don't pay for any newpapers so that isn't a problem.
