Maastricht Region Community

Maastricht’s Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (FHML) has new plans on the Calatrava Campus front. The objective is to better integrate it into the Life & Science plan. This involves the integration of education, research, and patient care with commercial developments in the areas of health and life style.
The FHML is now listed 18th in the Times Higher Education’s rankings of biomedical centers. The Dean of Medicine, Martin Paul, wants to see it in the top 10 by 2020. The number of research institutes will have to rise from 6 to 14 and another Knowledge institute will be required. Employment would rise from the current 7300 to 10,000.
A high quality living, working and recreational environment will be required in a green setting. The cost of developing the area would be EUR 20m including campus management, marketing and PR. The total price tag would be EUR 330m.
